Music Camps @ FSU provide specialized training on percussion, trumpet, piano, and voice.
- Students will perform in unique solo/chamber ensemble, and vocal group settings while receiving advance individual coaching & structured classes to improve their musical knowledge and instrument proficiency
- Students are accepted on first come basis. All participants must have had at least one year of band/vocal/piano experience or the equivalent – no beginners will be allowed. Early registration is recommended before June 1, 2009.
- The camps run from June 14-18, 2010 on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The sessions for each will be held in the Rosenthal Building and run from 9 am – 4 pm.
- The daily schedule will include sectional/technique classes, guest performances, and master classes. There will also be daily music theory, rhythm, and improvisation classes with lunch, snack, and rest breaks provided.
- On the final day of the camp, all students will perform in unique solo and/or chamber ensemble, which will be open to the public to attend.
The following are the four music camps with instructor and additional requirements beyond one year of experience:
- Total Percussion Camp — Dr. Don N. Parker — 7th thru 11th grade
- Trumpet Camp — Dr. Sheryl Linch-Parker — 7th thru 11th grade
- Vocal Camp — Ms. Denise Payton — 6th thru 12th grade
- Piano Camp — Dr. Howard Kim — 6th thru 12th grade
- Woodwinds Camp — Mr. Timothy Chambers — 7th thru 10th grade
- Low Brass Camp — Dr. Neal Finn — 7th thru 10th grade
- String Camp — Dr. Phoenix-Neal, Dr Earnest Lamb — 6th thru 12th grade
